This month we're excited that we’ll be reading A Woman Is No Man by Etaf Rum inside the What Should I Read Next Book Club.

This debut novel by Etaf Rum tells the generational story of a book smart, headstrong Palestinian mother and her daughter — who is more like her mom than she knows. We follow their individual journeys from daughters to women as they dream of more and struggle to express their individual desires while grappling with the confines of their culture.

About the Author
Etaf Rum was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, by Palestinian immigrants. She teaches college English literature in North Carolina, where she lives with her two children. She also runs the Instagram account @booksandbeans
