I did undergo hypnotherapy, and it didn't work! The guy couldn't put me under. I was very disappointed. I was very keen to be suggested, to have somebody tell me to run naked or cluck like a chicken or whatever, but it didn't work for me, I'm afraid.
Around me I saw women overworked and underpaid, doing men's work at half men's wages, not because their work was inferior, but because they were women.
My whole life people underrated me.
I'm happy that grime remains underground. A lot of people talk like it's some underrated or ignored genre, but to me, that's the beauty of it.
There's a tremendous amount of rural areas where the constituencies tell me on a regular basis that they are underserved by the availability of broadband.
I'm quite a shy person, but I know I'm a good football player. That's just the way I am. That's the way I grew up. My grandmother brought me up, and she is the same way. She's understated, but she knows what she's worth.
To say that my dad pushed me is an understatement. I was never naturally drawn to football.
My favorite thing about my grandmother is her lust for life and how much she has shown me about living every day to the fullest. To say my grandmother has paved the way for me and so many women out there like me is an understatement.
There are times where fans don't understand that change is inevitable or that changes are done too fast. They say, 'We like the way you used to be.' Or they say, 'We liked what you did then.' You can't stay the same. As you mature as an adult, you find out you have to keep changing in this business. It's something The Undertaker laid on me.
The Undertaker's beaten me down pretty bad quite a few times.
I'd love to be in the ring with guys like Goldberg, Brock Lesnar, and The Undertaker, as, no matter what they've done, I know how good my conditioning is. If those three can say the same thing, I'd love to go and hang with them because I don't think they could hang with me.
Young men often seek tests and trials, and to me, BUD/S training - basic underwater demolition/SEAL - seemed like the ultimate test.
People come to me and say, 'What'll I do if I go in the water and see a shark?' You don't have to do anything. The chances of that shark attacking you in any way is so remote. The sea should be enjoyed, the animals in it. When you see a shark underwater, you should say, 'How lucky I am to see this beautiful animal in his environment!'
I got some new underwear the other day. Well, new to me.
The idea that somehow the way forward is to abandon the past, to me, is preposterous and both undesirable and unrealistic.
I still believe in putting something out and not asking people to buy the record, then buy a ticket to my show and then buy a t-shirt and then a, like, copy of the show they just saw on CD. That's undignified to me.
Show business has been really, really good to me because I can work and take a lot of time off, and I'm extremely undisciplined person.
I was a very undisciplined person but acting was something that actually motivated me to get up in the morning. I hadn't experienced that before, but it was something that really excited me. I think I could be quite self-conscious and it gave me a release.
Back then I said to myself 'screw football.' Actually I just took part in this camp as there was nothing better for me to do. They also didn't draft me because they thought I was too wild and undisciplined.
The undiscovered places that are interesting to me are these places that contain bits of our disappearing history, like a ghost town.
