To be creative, first we must be generous. Then we must have a quiet, indomitable belief in our own worth.
Being liked or not, having company or not, being understood or not, being acknowledged or not are not issues of concern on the spiritual path.
It could be said that we become so much a stranger that we disappear and find ourselves reborn in the midst of humanity which is quite a paradox.
If possible, it is best to have a balance between the civilisation of city life and the solitude of country living. Too much solitude and we can become isolated and lose the benefit of human culture, progress, and communication. Too much urban life and we lose our spiritual essence and our fundamental native homeostasis. Many people instinctively withdraw to the country or the seaside when they feel the noise of city life is drowning out the quiet, inner voice of peace. The country does what the city cannot. It quietens the mind and brings simplicity into oneβs life. The city does what the country cannot. It enlivens the mind and brings culture into oneβs life. We try to engage with both and benefit from the well-roundedness of a complete experience of all that life has to offer.
Falling in love is falling in love with our own and anotherβs truest self. It is ignited by the presence of another but we become beautiful ourselves as well as seeing beauty in the other. A man or woman in love is a magnet for love and affection from everywhere. While we deeply appreciate who God has given us to love, nevertheless, we can learn to be in love with the whole of life. To be in love with Life is to be in touch with our spiritual essence. It is to see beauty and loveliness wherever we go. It is to see the glow of divinity in all those around us.
To an ego, being ignored is equivalent to annihilation. To not exist is any egoβs greatest fear. It is a warranted fear because the ego does, in fact, get annihilated in proportion to the growth of oneβs spiritual realisation. However, the rewards of spiritual development so outshine the feeble offerings of the ego that it is an insignificant price to pay. Does one begrudge paying a small price for something invaluable?
True forgiveness totally alters our perception. It sees the spiritual truth and loses sight of the alternatives. Our ego refuses to do this because its main food is remembering the wrongdoings against us even if they are entirely fabricated. To choose to see a different reality leaves the ego no room. It is the healing space. It is the beautiful space. It is the space of love and happiness.
