J.K. Rowling is a British author best known for her 7-part Harry Potter fantasy series. First published in 1997, the book series has sold over 500 million copies, has been translated into 80 languages, and adapted into an equally successful film franchise. The record-breaking success of the Harry Potter series has attracted something of a cult following, with thousands of fanatical fans all over the world. Since the last Harry Potter book, Rowling has written five books for adult readers: The Casual Vacancy (2012), The Cuckoo's Calling (2013), The Silkworm (2014), Career of Evil (2015), and Lethal White (2018).
