Donna Tartt (born December 23, 1963) is an American writer, the author of the novels The Secret History (1992), The Little Friend (2002), and The Goldfinch (2013). She received much critical acclaim for his first two novels, which were translated into thirty languages, and was the recipient of the prestigious WH Smith Literary Award for The Little Friend. In 2014, she won the Pulitzer Prize for her third novel, The Goldfinch. Time included her in its 100 Most Influential People List in 2014. Tartt was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and has been writing since early childhood, completing her first poem when she was just five, and publishing a sonnet in a Mississippi literary review at the age of 13. She divides her time between Virginia and New York City these days.
