Catherine Ryan Hyde (born 1955) is an American novelist and short-story writer. Hyde has published more than 30 books with more recent forays into the world of eBook publishing. Her novels have enjoyed bestseller status in both the U.S. and the U.K. Her book Pay It Forward was adapted into a movie and was chosen by American Library Association for its Best Books for Young Adults list. Hyde’s works optimistically explore ordinary characters troubled or down-on-their-luck, recovering from past difficulties or abuse. Hyde is an avid hiker, traveler, equestrian, and amateur photographer.
