Alice Hoffman

Alice Hoffman is an American novelist. She's a young-adult and children's writer and is best known for her 1995 novel Practical Magic, which was adapted for a 1998 film of the same name. Hoffman is the author of more than thirty works of fiction. Her most recent novel is The World That We Knew (2019). She has a Bachelor of Arts from Adelphi University and Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Stanford. Hoffman has won numerous literary awards for her works and was also the writer for the screenplay for the 1983 film Independence Day, starring Kathleen Quinlan and Dianne Wiest. She resides in Boston.
